Kentucky FAIR Plan Reinsurance Association

The Kentucky FAIR Plan was established pursuant to KRS Chapter 304, Subtitle 35. The purpose is to establish and maintain a non-profit residual market mechanism whereby Property Insurance and Casualty Insurance can be made available to all worthy applicants and to distribute equitably the costs, losses, or gains, if any, arising therefrom among all members of the Plan and the related reinsurance association created and existing pursuant to the FAIR Plan Statutes.

Rate Change

Dwelling Fire -5%, Effective 01/01/12

Homeowners +4%, Effective 02/01/12

Commercial & Farm Fire -5%,

Effective 03/01/12


Premiums will vary depending on the territory and protection class Some premiums will increase while others will decrease.


 

On-Line Payments

The Plan now offers policyholders the ability to pay their renewal or installment payments online. Select the payment tab above.

 

Municipal and County Taxes

The Kentucky Department of Insurance has ruled that Kentucky FAIR Plan policies are no longer subject to local government premium taxes. This change is effective June 15, 2010.
This does not affect the 1.8% surcharge.

Quote Programs

The Quote Programs have been updated for Dwelling Fire and Homeowners and now are also available for Commercial Fire and Farm Fire.

 

Payment and Claim Inquiry

Payment and Claim Inquiry now includes basic policy information, as well as policy, payment and claim status for new or renewal policies written after1/1/09 and thereafter. (Policies on the old system are not included until renewed in 2009). Your User ID is your FAIR Plan agency number and your Password is the last 4 digits of your tax ID number or SSN.

  

On-Line Loss Notice

Claims should be reported on the Loss Notice portion of the Producers Tab. Producers are strongly encouraged to report all losses on-line for more efficient claim handling.

 

Mine Subsidence Coverage

Effective July 15, 2010 the reinsurance limits
are increased from $100,000 to $300,000 and coverage is added for additional living expense up to $25,000 for owners displaced as a direct result of a mine subsidence loss.

Coverage is limited by the maximum building coverage limits offered for each program.
